Highly Optimized Alpha Cabinets
Reference Alpha cabinets are a work of art – and science. The acoustically optimized cabinet curves prevent internal edge reflections while the double-layered side panels provide exceptional stability and minimize resonance.
Alpha 1 and Alpha 2 loudspeaker cabinets feature newly designed stiffened internal construction, and with the elaborately curved side panels, as well as the bases and lids, there are no parallel surfaces. The lack of parallel surfaces along with a special internal fleece damping prevents standing waves inside the cabinets.
These enhancements significantly reduce resonance and contribute to the outstanding transparency and clarity of the Alpha loudspeakers.
The Alpha Bass Guide ensures low frequency signals are reproduced precisely and evenly from the cabinet front and rear while reducing air flow noise and also allows greater flexibility of in-room placement of the speakers.
Innovative Diamond-Ceramic Midrange
The Alpha models feature the proven BCC (Black Ceramic Tungsten) cones from the Reference Series in the bass drivers.
The newly developed DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) cones with a diamond coating are used for the first time in the midrange and tweeter systems. They deliver an optimal ratio of stiffness, internal damping and weight.
Also new and exclusive to the midrange of the Alpha is the triple-curved, funnel-shaped cone with an ultra-light, phase optimized dome dustcap. It is centered on a single point and combines increased impulse response with uniform sound dispersion.
The specially shaped Triple Curved Cone (TCC Technology) stabilizes and reduces unwanted resonance and distortion. The iridescent surface of the cone enhances the extraordinary appearance of the midrange driver. Canton is one of the few manufacturers to use this diamond-coated technology in a midrange drive unit.
Diamond Dome Tweeter
The diamond-coated extremely lightweight and rigid DLC transducer systems ensure the crystal-clear high frequencies of the Reference Alpha. They offer high internal damping, greater efficiency, extremely good impulse response and low-distortion broadband frequency response linearity. The 3D Wave Guide baffle integrated into the cabinet in matching colors to the cabinet improves dispersion, both in the crossover range and in the high-frequency range above 15,000 Hz.
The newly developed acoustic lens acts as an additional wave guide and mechanical air cushion, contributing to the exceptional efficiency and bandwidth of the tweeter systems – and creates a listening experience in which even the finest nuances are communicated and voices and instruments are reproduced with the utmost precision and naturalness. Highly Refined Alpha Crossovers and Attention to Detail
The crossovers in all Reference models are equipped with capacitors specially manufactured for Canton. The Alpha Series exclusively features Mundorf MKP capacitors. Mundorf manufacturers in Germany and has been the epitome of high-quality crossover components in the hi-fi sector for decades.
To avoid structure-born noise, the crossovers in the Alpha loudspeakers are mounted on damping cork discs in a separate housing. As the control center of the speakers, the newly developed crossovers make a decisive contribution to the stress-free music enjoyment at all levels. They ensure brilliant treble, impressive bass and maximum precision in the fundamental range.
Canton’s exclusive Displacement Control technology, Room Compensation technology, high end cabling, special cable bridges, high-purity WBT nextgen binding posts, special CNC-machined isolation feet, resonance-optimized POM trim rings and special sealing rings ensures durability and sound fidelity. In Alpha 1 and Alpha 2 every detail has been engineered to maximize sound quality and deliver uncompromising performance.
